   Jonathan Evans has lived and worked in the UK, Spain, the USA and in Asia and has shown his Batik paintings all over the world.

   Beth Evans has worked and taught all over the world and has taken her art into areas never explored in this difficult medium.

   Together they have worked to expose the Batik process to a global public, to legitimize and popularize a sometimes-neglected ancient art medium and to push their own boundaries and limitations.

    This book is a record of their love of Batik and their struggle to take the medium into new territories through new techniques.  It is a no-holds barred story of two artists, their art and the long, strange journey they have taken in search of personal happiness and artistic satisfaction. It is a mission that has taken them all over the world and their work always reflects this adventure.

Beth and Jonathan Evans are internationally known batik artists who have created, shown and taught their art all over the world. With a combined experience of more than 90 years working in the batik medium they have both led a dedicated and adventurous life in art. They currently own and run Shalawalla Gallery, housed in an old train boxcar, in La Veta, Colorado, USA.
